How I wish I was in a place,

Where my heart would be filled with zeal;

where there is no sadness to feel!

In my quest for such a place,

I wandered the whole earth, 

To get rid of this feeling of dearth.

But my quest ended in vain.

Dejected, I came back home as it was about to rain.

I thought and thought and thought;

For I know for sure that happiness can never be bought.

Then I accidentally looked at my bookshelf.

And I smiled without the knowledge of myself.

That is when I realised,

That all I dreamt of was a library.

And I had gone around the earth with great dreary,

For something that was a few yards away!

The following morning I was ready,

With a mind that was steady.

I was in a 'Heaven on earth'.

And here, there is no place for dearth, no place for dearth, no place for dearth....

Here is a treat for our book-lovers....yes...it's about the libraries in Chennai. It's even useful for the majority of Chennai's youth who are in dire need of notes for the never-ending exams ;-)

CONNEMARA PUBLIC LIBRARY- This 125-year old library is one of the four national depository libraries of India i.e, it has a copy of every book published in India. Also, it is a depository library of the UN. Well-known for UPSC preparation books, the library is always busy with study circles. So there is hardly a book you wouldn't find here.

BRITISH COUNCIL LIBRARY- This UK based library boasts of a wide range of books, DVDs, audio-books and online access to over 1,00,000 books.

ANNA CENTENARY LIBRARY- This is one of the largest libraries in Asia and what sets it apart are its braille and own book reading sections. There is no membership here and hence no books can be borrowed.
