A DIME, A DOZEN

Hello there....here is what everyone loves to do.........yup.....SHOPPING........wanna grab some nice stuff with your restricted pocket money???....From colourful ethnic markets to bustling wholesale stores, Chennai has many options for any kind of shopaholic. Whether you are a street shopper or a luxury-loving kind. Here  we are to help you with the cheapest and yet pretty stuff.....so get on your heels and read on :) Yeah you can also be ready with your money to shop immediately.. ;-)

RANGANATHAN STREET:

Ranganathan street is considered the most crowded street in Chennai. Located in the neighborhood of T.Nagar, this street houses several commercial establishments primarily those involved in the clothing and jewelry industry.  Here, they showcase really cool footwear and pretty earrings at unimaginably cheap prices. You can see Saravana Stores to Hot Male selling all latest collection of dresses, then Pandian stores is my personal choice for women accessories, Kalanjiyam has its best collection of shawls, blouses etc. Not only clothing, even shops selling mobile accessories, badam milk, movie c.d's, tailor shops, bags and much more are always opened in this street. Even rich people buy bulk products from this place whereas middle caste and lower caste people also do their shopping here.

MINT STREET:

Filled with crowded, dusty and smiling shoppers, Mint Street defines the character and nature of Sowcarpet. Fashion accessories and ethnic salwar sets compete with lassi, jilebi and chaat shops to capture the attention of shoppers. The famous chaats of Kakada Ramprasad are also on this street.

PARRYS CORNER:

This area is located in George Town and is hence very close to Mint street. You can shop here for almost anything and the prices are very reasonable [actually cheap]. One can buy their first cycle here in Parrys as there are many companies selling them. And also all kinds of bike accessories and hardware items are sold in Parrys corner exclusively. Well after shopping if you are tired, you should surely taste the falooda and biryani sold at this place ;-) they are so yummy.

PONDY BAZAAR:

This area is very close to T.Nagar and is a great shopping area for clothing, footwear and mobile accessories. Also there are many complexes which have different shops selling personalized gifts and toys. If you want to buy products in bulk quantity, then this is the best place for it.

MYLAPORE LUZ CORNER:

This place is not for buying any goods, rather for getting your clothes or footwear serviced. For most of us finding a tailor who is ready to do alterations is quite difficult, and that’s why a visit to Luz corner is mandatory.

SPENCER PLAZA:

One of the oldest malls in Chennai is Spencer Plaza. Even though it might have a lot of shops, you will still enjoy walking through it until you find what you are looking for. The third floor has a wide range of shops selling everything from Pashminas to curtains, mobile cases, and art that are totally worth the price. Recently, the plaza has Fruit shop, Shree Mithai, Nike, Bata, Titan, Lee, Landmark, Subway etc to attract youngsters. This place is always been the best shopping spot for guys who wish to gift cheap and best products to their girlfriends.. :-P All round the year you can see the SALE board hanging in most of the shops in Spencer plaza which attracts people. :-D :-P

MOORE MARKET:

The market, had sections for meat, pets and flowers earlier but now

this is famous for second hand books sold for a very cheap rate.

RITCHIE STREET:

This is like Palika Bazar in Delhi (if one has been there). You can buy all these electronic goods for some really cheap prices, but they come without a warranty. So if you are little skeptical on the experience, we suggest going with a local so that you are not fooled.

NOTE:
All these places are often crowded (especially during festival time) with people which is an advantage for thieves. So be careful with your belongings. Then you can bargain with the shopkeepers if you are talented and you can also be cheated if you are dumb :-P. Its always better to have some extra money other than your budget because you will come across few pretty dresses and eye catching accessories which will not allow you to miss buying them. For a happy shopping experience better compare prices from two to three shops and then choose the best product which will make you feel satisfied ;-).

So go on .......rock the streets of Chennai....and do share your shopping experiences below.....
